It is usually fairly easy to set up a new organisation with the impetus of enthusiastic pioneers. The challenge is to keep the organisation going, and to ensure that it continues to meet the intentions of its founders.

The National Confederation of Parent Teacher Associations has not only met the ambitions of its founders, it has gone on to achieve even greater success. I am therefore delighted to have this opportunity to offer my very warmest congratulations to the National Confederation on its 50th anniversary.  Its success is a testament to the energy and hard work of a succession of trustees, volunteers and staff.  I have no doubt that it will go on to achieve even greater things in the future.

I am delighted to hear that the NCPTA is fifty this year.  You play an important role in helping, supporting and representing Parent Teacher Associations across the country. Positive partnerships between schools and parents built on high aspirations and expectations for our children can make a major contribution to raising levels of achievement.

The Rt. Hon. Alan Johnson MP, Secretary of State for Education and Skills

Parental engagement with schools is very important.  The NCPTA has done fantastic work on this front for half a century, and it is exciting to see that after fifty years of success, new ideas are still being born and funding is being generated for parental involvement initiatives. I warmly congratulate the NCPTA and their award winners on their achievements.

David Willetts MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Education and Skills

I congratulate the NCPTA on its fantastic achievement of celebrating fifty years of working to build stronger relationships between parents, schools and pupils to create better learning environments.

On such an important occasion it is apt that the association is taking the opportunity to recognise past and ongoing successes through the presentation of the Gold Star Rewards and the LEAPP Awards.  I applaud the excellent work that the NCPTA has done over the past fifty years and am confident that it will continue to drive collaborative improvement over the course of the next fifty.

Sarah Teather MP, Liberal Democrat Shadow Secretary for Education
